Expectation vs Reality: 4 Things You Might Not Know About Slow Travel
Slow travel looks magical from the outside, but after six years on the road, Chris and I have learned it's a mix of unforgettable highs and frustrating lows - and that's exactly what makes it worth talking about. In this video, we're sharing what slow travel actually feels like: the safaris that blew our minds, the three weeks in Tanzania where nothing went as planned, the lasting connections in Nairobi, the awkward gym classes, the Michelin-level meals, and the street‑corner chicken that blew us away. If you've ever wondered what slow travel is really like, this video is for you.
Welcome!
Hello!
We're Chris and Emilie, and we slow travel around the world. We rent apartments in big cities, spend time in rural areas, hike, and camp - all with a goal of experiencing everyday life in new places. We plan our own schedule, keep costs low, and stay flexible, so if we enjoy a place, we can stay longer.
When we're in our home province of British Columbia, Canada, we travel around in our Honda Pilot Microcamper. Watch the video to see our setup!
